WEEE: Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) 

The RoHS and WEEE have its origin in the EC directives relating to WEEE and to the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) in WEEE. 

On 10 August 2005 the UK Government announced introduction  and policy leading to implementation of the WEEE Directive in the UK. 

UK Agencies involved in RoHS compliance and implementation:

WEEE: The Environment Agency (SEPA in Scotland and EHS in NI) will be the enforcement agencies for WEEE. 

RoHS: Responsibility for enforcement of the RoHS Directive has not been been allocated by UK government agencies. (Source: DTI)
